POTASSIUM PERMANGANATE CHINA

General Information

A crystalline salt in dark violet with a chemical formula KMnO4 is obtained by the action of chlorine potassium manganate. It dissolves in water to give a violet solution. This solution is a good alkene reagent and a strong oxidant. It leaves a brown stain in contact with the human body, but over time it is removed from the body. Its mixture with sugar and potassium chlorate can cause great hazards.

Production and Reactions

Chlorine is obtained by the effect of potassium manganate. Potassium permanganate factor determination and sample analysis can be performed with sodium oxalate.

Usage areas

Water
It is used as a clarifier in aquarians and pools.

Agriculture
It is used to disinfect the incoming plants by killing the snails and parasites.

Hygiene
It is used as a chemical disinfectant. It is used in the cleaning of the fungus which can be formed by oxidizing the cell wall especially in human.

Photography
It is used in the bleaching bath in photography.

Paint
Potassium permanganate is used as dyestuff (indigo dyes) in dye houses.
